This week, I was part of a great event for Vh1's Save The Music - Andy Grammar and Colbie Calait performed live at the Sunset Marquis in Hollywood as part of the Songrwriter's Series. Here's why we all love the cause so much!
VH1's Save The Music is a non-profit organization helping to restore Music Education in public schools across the country! I learned a LOT through my extra-curricular involvement in the sports, arts, and MUSIC! If you can't tell from my choice of careers, music continues to influence me today, and it is an essential part of any child's education!
Save The Music has helped contribute over $47 million in new musical instruments to 1,750 public schools around the US which have impacted the lives of over 1.6 million children.
See what YOU can do to ensure that music continues to be a part of every child's education! They all deserve the opportunities that we had, and you could be helping empower our next superstars! LET THE MUSIC PLAY!
Carter
Carter - Tiptoe-ing across hardwood floors in Heaven ;c)
Super sad, and I miss my buddy...Carter ended up with doggy lymphoma this summer, and put up an awesome fight. When it become too much, it happened quickly, and I'm thinking he had one of the best doggy-lives ever! He was happy right up to the last day.
He may be up in Heaven with his cone on, getting the rundown on what really causes thunderstorms (see video below haha):

HERE ARE A COUPLE OF PETS that Carter thought you should meet:
After years of small contributions toward equal rights for gay individuals, President Obama definitely stated his beliefs about gay marriage this week. Personally, I have always seen this as a human-rights issue, so I was very proud of the President for having spoken on his opinion, rather than skirting the issue. It seems (to me) to be an issue that the government should be addressing from a legal standpoint.
I have thought (for a few weeks) that Team Cee-Lo was going to win The Voice this season - either Juliette or Jamal...after Monday's final performance, though, I thought Team Adam Levine was going to pull off the win (cuz Tony Lucca was smushed by Christina Aguileraagain, and people love voting for the underdog), then we got the results...
Blake Shelton won the show with the amazing talent of his team-member Jermaine Paul - who used to be a backup singer for Alicia Keys!!! Check out the great moment:
And if you missed them, here are Justin Bieber's and Lady Antebellum's performances:
Even before The Avengers was released in the US this weekend, it was already RACKING up the dough around the world! We certainly didn't get stingy with them - I actually tried to go see it at three theaters, and EVERYTHING (except the front row...barf) was sold out!
Check out the accolades from opening weekend:
OPENED WITH $200.3 million
highest grossing opening weekend in IMAX history
biggest midnight opening for a superhero movie
fastest film to reach $200 million (3 days)
biggest opening weekend of all time in eleven other countries
Worldwide total of $641.8 million
And here's what we missed (if you ran into the "Sold Out" story, too)
Umm...see what you think.. Does Rihanna looks 'sick' during her performance on Saturday Night Live this weekend?
Just before the show (audience already in the studio), Rihanna called in sick for the dress rehearsal of her two songs Saturday night...then a few minutes after her choreographer finished doing the run-through, RiRi wandered on-set and walked around smiling and eating an apple... Lorne Michaels (producer/inspiration for Dr. Evil in Austin Powers) was NOT pleased, considering no one can even remember the last time a musical guest didn't show up for dress rehearsal.
Simon Cowell is apparently - and appropriately - realizing the pressure for X-Factor Season Two to be a much bigger success than last year's disaster... He is still thisclose to finalizing a contract to pay Britney Spears $15 million per year to join him at the Mentor/Judges table. The last couple of days have seen MileyCyrus and Demi Lovato battling it out for the other open chair... I'm rooting for Demi, and it looks like its leaning that way...
ALSO - I heard today that (still rumor) Gwen Stefani is going to get $7 million per season to host!
With a lot o' controversy surrounding BlakeShelton's involvement with a reality music-competition (you can borrow my Rolling Stone to see what Eric Church said about being a "true artist")... Blake's still going ahead full-steam!
Last night, we found out who America had chosen for their finalist (Adam Levine and Cee-Lo were the only judges who used their "percentage vote" to sway the final tally...although it turned out that the finalists won in a landslide that wouldn't have changed due to the judges-added points).
Rumor has it that Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber are CONFIRMED aliens...and I'm not making a "Justin's Canadian" joke or anything. I am kinda spreading false info...cuz this is only true in the context of Men in Black III. I'm excited to see the movie, cuz I think Josh Brolin does a kickass "young Tommy Lee Jones" impersonation, but if you are also looking forward to the cameos, Gaga and Bieber will flash across the screens in MIB3 in the background of the central command.
People magazine just released their "Most Beautiful Women" list...topped by...
Beyonce!
B also made the recent "World's Most Powerful Couples" list - topping it with her man Jay-Z.. Check out the full list of beauties (not that that's important)...Miranda Lambert and Charlize Theron made the list, too..
If I were Jimmy Fallon, I would have been damn-near impossible for me to believe that this was happening in my life...but last night, Jimmy somehow talked President Barack Obama into helping him "Slow Jam The News!"
Politics aside, the concept and fact that our President showed that he is a real dude, who understand life from the same perspectives as 'we the people' was pretty kickass. Check out the moment from last night's show:
