THE BIO
Tuesday 02-06-2007 10:09pm CT
I'm a Midwest boy!
Born in Iowa -- birthday is October 13th...was Friday the 13th last year!! -- grew up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota...went to college around Minneapolis...moved a lot...love acting, so before Chicago, I ended up in LA
I've moved a million times in my life...so rather than the same old snoring bore-bore-bio...let's walk through my life by remembering my homes:
 1. Townhouse... Sioux City IA I was born at St. Luke's Hospital and lived in this duplex...I guess...that's what my parents told me, anyway...
2. 415 Driftwood Court... Sioux City IA When I was 1, my dad and mom bought our first house. -It was yellow, and had a radio tower in the yard, which I climbed many times, and it scared Annie (my mom) to death -My best friend, Todd Harrington, lived across the street and every day we got mad at each other, threw sand in each others' eyes and had to go inside for Time Out -At this house, I had the scariest dream of my life when I was 4: I was being chased by vampires...ran into a church and hid under a table...I could see the vampires' legs as they circled the table...I managed to run out from under the table, and climb a rope in the church, just fast enough to get away...then I woke up and went and hid under the table while my parents watched tv... -My little sister, Jenny, was born here...
3. 5005 Hamilton Boulevard... Sioux City IA When I was 6 we moved to a huge old-school plantation-like house -My cousin, Heather was babysitting my sister and I at this house when she was 13, and had a boy come visit...somehow she was acting like a crazy teenage girl and managed to shatter the glass panes in our side-entry door... -We had 2 basements in this house...one was normal, the other was all cement and had a wine cellar -I had a kickass bedroom...and kickass bunk beds -Our cat Misty had babies under one of my beds, and wouldn't let me in my room for a day...then she moved the kittens to my toybox in the closet and I couldn't play with my toys for about two weeks...freakin cats
4. 901 Bachelor Lane... Sioux Falls SD When I was 8, my dad decided to become a cop, and we moved to Sioux Falls after he was hired... -Had a mad crush on my neighbor, Colleen Zea - who to this day may be the hottest girl ever (at least in my, possibly fantastical, memory)...her dad's name was Jay Zea...which was also his initials... -My parents finished the basement, and for the first time I was living 2 floors below the rest of the family... -Every night after they went to bed, I snuck to the phone and called the country station to request Randy Travis for the girl I had a crush on...Carissa Brown...looking back, I realize how annoying that was for the DJ -My little sister, Kristye was born here...
5. 4402 Valhalla Circle Apt. 802... Sioux Falls SD When I was 11, my parents decided to build a house...since it wasn't done by the time we had to be out of our old one, we moved into a 3-bedroom apt. -I got in trouble one night, and had to go to bed while everyone else watched the Newly-Released "Home Alone"...it sounded like it was funny... -The people in the apartment above us would blast "American Pie" (that's a 7-minute song, for you young ones) every night at 10:00p on repeat for about an hour... -This was when we first realized that the digits in our addresses always added up to 10...even the apartment number!
6. 731 Mardo... Sioux Falls SD After spending a few months in an apartment, my parents abandoned the idea of building a house and ended up just buying one... -They refinished the basement for me again - this time with a minibar (no alcohol, just a functioning fridge, sink and microwave), giant 'living room', bathroom with heat-light, bedroom, and walk-out sliding door! Too bad I was only 12, and they wouldn't let me have chicks over... -I finally got rid of the bunkbeds and bought a waterbed!...still wouldn't let me have chicks over... -I started mowing lawns, cuz I thought it was badass to mow with a riding-mower...that got old fast...
7. 3512 Braeburn Circle... Sioux Falls SD When I was in 7th grade, my parents decided to move again (you think houses went fast, you should have seen how fast my dad went through new cars) -I moved down the street from my then-crush, Deanne Mead...I was a dumbass and didn't tell her I liked her cuz I was afraid she wasn't cool...I ended up being a dork at the new school after saying that...damn it -Met my best friend, Ben Holsen, who lived next door to Deanne -Eventually convinced Deanne to become engaged to me...we still haven't set the date, but its only been like 14 years...
8. err...my parents current address... Sioux Falls SD When I was a freshman in high school, my parents wanted a bigger house - and mainly a bigger yard - and we moved about a mile from my old house... -I moved down the street from my new then-crush, Alece Molgard (after 3 years of being silently in love, we would finally become a couple, only to break up 3 months later cuz my parents kept grounding me for sneaking to her place on my way home from work and stuff...) -My parents put a pool in when I was a sophomore...I had friends over a few times, but probably only swam in it 20 times in my life...looking back, I think I missed out...always enjoyed the lake more, though... -had a roses border in my bedroom...it was there when I moved in, chill...I ended up covering it in KDWB radio station stickers...my parents took the border down two years after I moved out...
9. err...something on Cleveland St... Sioux Falls SD After graduating, I moved out of my house and roomed with some friends for the summer... -I slept in the living room of the two-bedroom apartment, cuz there were 3 of us and I was only going to be there for the summer -When I moved in, it was the nastiest place EVER...my mom ended up bringing over the carpet cleaner and lots of disinfectant... -We had no AC for the first month I lived there...that was horrible...
10. Stearns Hall.... St. Cloud MN My first year of college, I lived in a dorm... -My roommate, Andy, was nicknamed Moose and took up twice as much room as I did, even though I owned everything in our dinky room...he wanted to be in the WWF... -I was Vice-President of my dorm, and a part of the University Student Board -I was the school mascot (Huskies) at D-1 hockey, football and basketball games...was even on ESPN a few times...chicks dig mascots -Got my first gig on a music radio station - overnights at KCLD
11. some house... St. Cloud MN After the school year, I sublet a house off-campus with a bunch of friends for the summer... -Party central! -Sticky floors...we were all guys... -I slept on the floor on an air mattress, cuz I was too poor to buy a new bed, and they wouldn't let me set up a waterbed...
12. some apartment... St. Cloud MN After the summer, I moved into a 4-bedroom joynt with some friends for the semester... -Was able to setup my waterbed, finally! -bought my first DVD player (much to my girlfriend's chagrin...she wanted to buy me one for Christmas, but I couldn't wait) and my first DVD...Mission Impossible 2... -Got my first fulltime job in radio - nights at KKSR (and APD...BS title)
13. 3400 Maine Prairie Rd #405... St Cloud MN After the first semester of my sophmore college year, I moved on my own for the first time! -I had a one-bedroom place, but slept in the living room on my futon, cuz - once again - I couldn't set up my waterbed... -I had the hots for my neighbor...ended up hookin up with a girl one night, and then never called...she turned out to be my hot neighbor's best friend...whoops -had my first crazy radio-stalker...she hacked into my emails and broke up with my girlfriend via my Instant Messenger...then carved my name into her leg and had to get stitches...she caused me to check every closet, cupboard, shadow and lock in my apt. every night before I could fall asleep...
14. 3400 Maine Prairie Rd #407... St. Cloud MN After being fired for the first time (cuz of some questionable content on my show), I couldn't afford rent, and moved in with the guy who had done afternoons at the station I had quit the year before, who just happened to live two doors down from my old apartment... -Shoved everything I owned into one bedroom, and pretty much sat in there every day all day, trying to find another job... -Might still owe that guy $200...does anyone know how to get ahold of Famous Amos to find out? -Took a lot of trips to Minneapolis to visit Ben and some friends
15. 14800 Chenal Parkway #1032... Little Rock AR When I was 20, I took the evenings job in Little Rock at Alice 107.7 -Had a kickass 1-bedroom apartment and super-hot neighbor! -Jumped off the balcony of a friend's apt. in the complex one morning, before I realized that it was terraced and I was 20 feet in the air...ended up tearing every ligament in my left thumb, and still have a hard time picking up a carton of milk -broke up with my first real girlfriend, Jenny V, cuz the long-distance thing was horrible...
16. 2400 Riverside Ave #13F... Little Rock AR When I was 22, I moved into my first two-bedroom apt. after the complex asked me to endorse them on the radio (legally) -I did The Bachelor-FM...two weeks of non-stop dates with contestants...basically like The Bachelor on tv, but did it for radio...included skydiving, SCUBA, horseback riding, catfighting, and a trip to the Caribbean for me and the winner...we never went, cuz I fell for another girl... -Had a tennis court, which my girlfriend, Bevin, and I used ALL the time! -Bevin gave me my collie, Carter, when he was only 8 weeks old...he chewed up my Britney Spears cardboard cutout when he was 13 weeks old...
17. 15450 FM 1325 #2132... Austin TX When I was 23, I took my first job as a morning-show host...Austin TX...I took the show from 8th to 1st (hey, I can brag...it was tough, I was young, and I'm proud of the show)...and moved to ATX or the 512 -My neighbors: Middle-aged lesbians, a Soprano-style Italian dude, Frank and his Uncle Dick (awesome peeps), a policeman, Sam and his owners James and Tyra, my 79-year-old friend Bill and his dog Tinker, and a chick with the biggest, meanest dog EVER! -I was only a half mile from Walmart, and went there at least every other day -Met my most-recent ex, Robin, while I was here...she had her own place, but basically lived with me (which I liked)... -I finally bought adult furniture...new couches and tv and rugs and tables and little decorations...had to give away the futon...
18. Robin's cousin's house... Silver Lake CA After about a year and a half in Austin, I started hating the place I worked, and wanted to quit...they let me out of my contract a little early, finally...Robin had gotten a couple of movie roles, and we both love acting, so we moved to Los Angeles... -We were staying at the house of Robin's cousin and his longtime boyfriend, Michel -Lived in the attic bedroom, which had a direct view of the Hollywood sign from the balcony - it was on top of a hill -Carter did not get along with the other two tiny dogs in the house, and even though he probably weighed 50lbs more than Roger, Roger kicked his ass...The Girl (girl dog) fell in love with Carter after about a month...
19. 828 S Sycamore... Los Angeles CA After 3 months with Robin's cousin, and with our relationship going slowly downhill, I ended up finding my own place to live (and Robin found her own place...yeah...inevitable on the way...) -Moved into a duplex in Hancock Park - KICK ASS place! -Had the coolest roommate, Ron - actor, producer, director, great dude! He was always out of town for weeks at a time, and we had opposite schedules, so we never really saw each other...he's currently in The Wiz in San Diego... -Badass neighbor downstairs (Mike was never home), Jimmy - actor...currently in The Haunted Prison on Sci-Fi and in The Foreigner in LA -Started working at Global Records in Beverly Hills as VP/Promotions... worked with Alisa Apps
20. corporate housing at 540 N State St... Chicago IL I moved to Chi to kick ass in the afternoon on 103-5 KissFM...they set me up in the middle of downtown at the Grand Plaza... -9th floor had a complete gym, basketball shooting court, hottubs, library, pool tables and plasmas, and a track! -I was on the 50th floor staring out over Chicago (and Rock'n'Roll McDonalds) -I lived above a Bed Bath and Beyond, which every girl was jealous of, and I never entered until I moved and had to buy a shower rod for my new apartment
21. loft, West Loop... Chicago IL I've been in my new place for 3 and a half months now... -and they still haven't finished my fireplace...although its almost there (week #3 of its current state) -It still looks like I just moved in five days ago...one of my bedrooms is officially a store-room, and the rest of the place is kinda half-setup...need a lot of new furniture -I did finally get that shower rod installed, and my bathrooms are the only completed rooms in the condo...unless you count laundry room, which is just a little closet with a washer/drier in it...but there're fully installed - and might be working...maybe I should do laundry...umm...
