whyyyyyy must the price of beer be going up??? I found this article on msn today. Despite beer sales being one of the only products actually doing well in this recession the prices are going up. Clearly I need to go buy several cases of miller lite before this hits. That or it's time to start drinking natty ice again...which makes my head hurt just thinking of it..

Beer drinkers, get ready to shell out more for a Bud: Anheuser-Busch InBev is boosting the price of its brews.

The increases will occur later this year and will cover "different price tiers," the company told The Wall Street Journal late Tuesday.

"We do plan on taking prices up in the fall on the majority of our volume in the majority of the U.S.," Dave Peacock, president of Anheuser-Busch InBev's U.S. division, told the paper. "The environment is very favorable, we think."

Rival MillerCoors also plans price increases. "We have seen very strong pricing to date this year, and we are projecting a favorable pricing environment moving forward," Brad Schwartz, the vice president of revenue management and sales development at MillerCoors, told the Journal. Neither company said how big the price increases would be.

Beer prices in the U.S. have been rising despite the recession. In July, the price of beer, ale and other malt beverages sold for consumption at home had risen 4.6% from July 2008, according to the Labor Department's Consumer Price Index. The year before, prices rose 5.3%.

Man Claims He Bit Into Condom in Soup, Sues

SANTA ANA, Calif. ? A 50-year-old California man says he ordered French onion soup and bit into a condom instead of melted cheese.

Zdenek Philip Hodousek of Mission Viejo sued a local Claim Jumper restaurant Tuesday in Orange County Superior Court. He is seeking unspecified damages.

Hodousek's attorney, Eric Traut, says his client wants restaurant employees' DNA tested to find a match to female DNA allegedly found on the condom.

A public relations firm representing Claim Jumper says an internal probe revealed no employee wrongdoing.

The firm says Hodousek took the so-called "foreign object" found in his soup with him, and there is no proof it is the same item later submitted to a lab for testing.
