Executive Producer - Brotha Fred's Neighborhood
On Air Weekends
MJ was raised in Naperville and attended Benet Academy in Lisle. While pursuing a career in Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University, MJ fell into radio after following some of his friends to their on-air show at a small dorm station, WILY, and instantly knew that media was his passion.
Deciding he was better suited behind a microphone than a Bunsen burner, MJ followed radio to North Central College in Naperville. He honed his skills at NCC's college station, WONC, where he spent part of every day in the studio.
He started his professional career at KISS FM with a promotions internship, and used his tenacity and enthusiasm to dive into different departments throughout the station, including promotions, production, programming, and on-air talent. Known as a "jack-of-all trades," he has been a Promotions Intern, Promotions Assistant, Evening Show Producer, Production Assistant and is currently the Executive Producer on the morning show, Brotha' Fred's Neighborhood.
When not locked in the studio, MJ likes to play golf and video games. He is a HUGE Blackhawks and Sox fan, and a Mountain Dew addict.
With the Oscars right around the corner... I've got to give a nod to my favorite award... the best animated short. Here are the nominees... which is your favorite??
Adam and Dog
(I had to lead with my favorite!) It's a story about the first man, and the first man's best friend. First off, it's amazingly beautiful, and really makes me want to run home and play with my dogs. It's 15 minutes, but WORTH IT!
Head Over Heals
I'm not sure how I get teary-eyed with so many shorts on these lists, but here's another tear jerker. The story of Walter and Madge who have drifted apart in more ways than one...
OF COURSE this one isn't available online. Just a bootleg version on youtube (we'll see how long that stays up) This was at the start of Wreck It Ralph, and I hate to call her out, but my fiancee was crying pretty hard at the end of this one. The story of a guy meeting a girl... and some help to get them together
A really cool and unique clay stop-motion on how to make some fresh guacamole... though, he might have wanted to wash that putt-putt golf ball... Don't know where that's been.
Maggie Simpson in "The Longest Daycare"
Sadly this one isn't available online... $$$ mmmhmmm $$$ ... It was only available at the start of Ice Age and no one has any boots on youtube... yet. Which is kind of sad, since most of us grew up with the Simpsons and would love to have this at the top of our lists. So until then, I've got the trailer that tells us absolutely nothing. So from the oscar website: "Maggie Simpson spends a day at the Ayn Rand Daycare Center (Caugh caugh, The Fountainhead reference... my favorite book even though I think I took a slightly different lesson from it than the creators of this one) where she is diagnosed at an average intelligence level. Longing to be grouped with the gifted children, Maggie finds her destiny by rescuing a lonely cocoon from Baby Gerald, who is busy smooshing butterflies." Which is available at theoscarshorts.shorts.tv.
Which is your favorite?!?
