Hi there. I’m CANDI GOMEZ! Let me tell you a little bit about myself and why they call me the “Hurricane In Heels.”
I’m a seasoned broadcaster with more than a decade of major-market radio and television experience. Currently I’m your local radio host for 1035 Kiss FM. I’m a Chicago Native, born and raised and have had the rare opportunity of enjoying my successful radio career in my very own hometown. I attended UIC, Act One and graduated from Columbia College with a Broadcast Journalism Degree.
I understand what it’s like to work for everything you have and to always be true to yourself. While a teenager in high school, I started off my passionate dream in radio at a small non-profit radio station operated by the, “Boys & Girls Club,” 90.5 FM - WCYC, and look how far I’ve come!
While in college working toward my degree, I interned for WGN Channel 9, worked on their news desk and covered all the exciting stories in the field, from chasing after politicians and celebrities to chasing down tornados; It was pretty much the same rush! Shortly after, I was hired by 96.3 FM - B96. I left my starter station 90.5 FM and joined the big leagues. – Sometimes I feel like I was born with a microphone in my hand.
Whether covering red-carpet events or press junkets, celebrity interviewing, being flown across the country to host parties, producing voiceovers, interacting with fun listeners or simply doing a regular On-Air broadcast, no assignment is too big or too small, I love it all! I am your true radio girl!
Recently I’ve worked behind the scenes for the “On-Air with Ryan Seacrest show,” and was the Emcee for the Women’s NBA Chicago Sky Team. My voice has been used for hundreds of radio commercials and I’ve been casted for various television shows and TV commercials. I’ve been truly fortunate and have made appearances on MTV, VH1, FOX, CBS, WCIU, Laugh or Die and co-hosted the national television show, “The Black College Quiz - Know Your Heritage.” Currently, I’m anticipating an animated film, which I’ve signed on to play a hummingbird.
I’m a fun, energetic people-person that loves to laugh. If I wasn’t working in the media, I’d probably be working for a charity organization dealing with marine life, abuse treatment or for an animal rights foundation. I’m involved with several charities and participate as much as I can when I can to help.
In my spare time, I love to read, write, mix music and spend as much time as possible with my amazing family, friends and wiener dog – Bruno! He’s the cutest hot dog ever!
