SO INSPIRING! Here is all of the info you need to support Ravina:
In the two years since 13-year-old Ravina Thakkar won first place in the Plainfield Great Reads writing contest, she and her family have seen her dream of being a published author become a reality.
Ravina suffers from the life-threatening Cystic Fibrosis, but does her best to live a full, happy life, mostly through her favorite hobby: writing. In 2011, Ravina was referred to Make-A-Wish® Illinois by her hospital social worker, and was then connected with Sourcebooks, a book publisher based in Naperville, IL, and the rest is history.
On Dec. 3, Ravina’s book, The Adventure of a Lifetime, a story she began to write when she was only 8-years-old, will be released in trade paperback and available wherever books are sold, including Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and Independent bookstores throughout Chicago.
Ravina’s book officially releases Dec. 3, with a book signing and launch party at Anderson’s Bookshop in Naperville at 1 p.m. on Dec. 8. Ravina is also planning visits to west suburban schools and libraries to talk about the process of publishing a book, writing, and living with her disease.
