Missouri Halting Johnson & Johnson Vaccinations

It has been reported today that the CDC is recommending states to halt the distribution of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine after people developed blood clots. Six women, between the ages of 18 to 48, developed a "rare and severe" type of blood clot between 6 to 13 days after receiving the vaccine.

Several states are already stopping J&J vaccine distributions, and Missouri has now been added to the list. Dr. Randall Williams, director of the Missouri Department of Health and Human Services, released a statement saying:

"In an abundance of caution and as per federal guidelines, we are pausing vaccination with Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine until further notice in Missouri. We anticipate having more information shortly to make further decisions about overall vaccine distribution in light of this new development and will continue to update citizens who have been vaccinated with the J&J vaccine after the advisory committee meets at the federal level tomorrow."
